'THE WHEELCHAIR OF DREAMS' Comes Home!

On Saturday 17th April 2010 Paul brought 'THE WHEELCHAIR OF DREAMS' home across the finish line in a staggering 3 hours and 1 minute, bringing to an end of what has been a very long and adventurous journey. His average lap time was 3 minutes and 55 secs and he never slowed throughout the event.

By completing his 51 laps (20 miles) on the outside of the Emirates Stadium in London, those kind and very generous donations that people have made, brought the sub-total to date to a fantastic £18,494.40. Thank you so much for your kindness!

Paul clocked up 336.7 miles, 465 hours of training, which included indoor training. He encountered 3 dogs ending up on the floor twice as a result and bitten by one. Paul trained in sub-zero conditions in snow, sleet, rain and high winds to prepare for his event.

On the day Paul had the support of up to 50 friends, family and onlookers all cheering him on from start to finish. Paul said that 'the most painful thing about this experience has been seeing and hearing children suffering and not doing anything about it, but by people donating almost £20,000 to date, you HAVE done something to help relieve the pain and suffering and you should all be really proud of yourselves'!

Thank You to all who have supported GOSH and Paul throughout the journey!

A BIG THANK YOU TO RGK WHEELCHAIRS, STAFFORDSHIRE WHO WITHOUT THE LOAN OF THE SPORTS WHEELCHAIR PAUL WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE EVENT!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor Paul: Great Ormond Street Hospital gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
