Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

We enhance the care at Lister, New QEII, Hertford County and MVCC by funding projects above the remit of the NHS. Projects include providing the latest equipment, making improvements to the inside and outside spaces, funding support services and items to make being in hospital that much easier.

Story

Hello everbody,

If you are now reading this you will no doubt be aware that I am about to fulfill a lifetime ambition and run the London Marathon !!!

The 2 Charities I am running and raising money for are the Addenbrooke’s hospital Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and North Hertfordshire’s Mulberry Bush Appeal. If you would like to spilt your donation the NICU page can be found at www.justgiving.com/paulsmyth1

My son Samuel was born on 5th October 2006 weighing just 900 grams (2 pounds).  His difficult start in life has left him with a few medical and developmental problems that, along with a team of therapists, we are striving to overcome.  Samuel currently sees some excellent therapists based at North Hertfordshire's Child Development Centre (CDC) and has benefited from their experitse and equipment, which are helping him to fulfil his potential.

THE MULBERRY BUSH APPEAL was created in 1992 to fund the start up and continual management of the Child Development Centre (CDC) for North Hertfordshire. The CDC is a base for Therapists and Doctors where children with a wide range of special needs can be assessed and treated. It offers specialist medical and therapeutic services for children aged 0 – 19 with a variable range of conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Developmental delay, coordination difficulties and communication disorders.

By running the London Marathon I am hoping that I can raise a substantial amount of money so other little boys and girls can benefit from the same care that my Samuel does.

Please please please be generous and I will NOT let you down, and my goal is to break 4 hours!!!

 Thank you all so much

 Paul xxx
