On Saturday 29 May, a troop of cyclists will be saddling up and urging others to join them in a bid to ride a stretch of Cornwall to help support ‘Pedal for Pounds’, a 3-day charity bike ride across Cornwall, in aid of a young man’s ambition to cycle across an entire continent, having battled with cancer only 11 months previously.

James Golding, 29, who is in remission from cancer, is taking on the challenge of a lifetime by cycling 3,500 miles from LA to in just 30 days. He is undertaking the charity ride with the aim to raise £100,000 for the young person’s breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! and Macmillan Cancer Support. The stretch across Cornwall forms part of James’s ‘training ride’, which he starts in John O’ Groats and will complete at Land’s End, covering 140 miles of the ‘Cornish Way’ over the three days.

Olympic heptathlete Denise Lewis will be joining the team on the ride as she is a big supporter of the charities and can’t wait to ditch the running shoes and don the lycras in aid of a great cause!

The founder of CoppaFeel, Kris Hallenga will of course be cycling too, along with her twin sister Maren – on a tandem!

The ride across Cornwall will take place on Saturday 29 May, starting in Bude and finishing on Bank holiday Monday, 31 May, at Land’s End.

If you fancy joining the team on the ride get in touch with Maren at maren@coppafeel.org, and if you don’t think you’ll suit the lycras, why not part with some of your pocket money and donate to two very important cancer charities??
