Thanks for visiting the Maas' fundraising page.
This Saturday, we will be competing (or in my case completing), the Blenheim Triathlon. Last November, when Henry said he wanted to support the Kenyan based charity Footsteps forAfrica, the Triathlon seemed the perfect focus to enlist the support of our family and friends. I am now somewhat daunted by the prospect of swimming 750m across a lake, jumping on my rather ancient sit-up-and-beg bike for 20km, and rounding that off with what will probably be a bit of wobbly 5km run. However, being mindful of the difference our small contribution could make, the last training sessions are beeing squeezed in, and we are all doing our best for the Rafiki community. Any amount of sponsorship will be greatly appreciated. Henry outlines the purpose of his trip below: On the 30 July of this year I will be travelling to take part in the Rafiki project. It is an event which has been organised by the ‘Footsteps forAfrica’ charity. The aim of the project is to integrate with, and teach young Kenyan school children new talents. The children live in extremely poor conditions and all work done is voluntary! I plan to teach a large group of the children, sports such asrugby and cricket, and as a group, we will be helping to build a school, which presently is just a corrugated tin shack. In order to raise the £1,400 necessary to travel to I am taking part in the Blenheim Trialthlon on the 6 of June. I have managed to rope in my parents and my sister to also take part, and we will be competing for the Footsteps Team! I have set myself a target of £2,000, and would be extremely grateful for any donations to be made in order for me to compete and contribute towards the trip. Thank you for your interest.
