Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I ran the Flora London Marathon for the second time in April 2008, in a time of 4 1/2 hours, and I raised over £1600 for the charity 'MEDICS'. Many thanks to all who sponsored me.
I have been lucky enough to gain entry into the Flora London Marathon for a third time, this time deciding to raise money for a charity much closer to home.
Just before I ran the marathon last year, my daughter Olivia was diagnosed with a hip condition called Perthes Disease. This is a debilitating condition in children where the the ball of the Femur loses its blood supply and as a result the bone breaks down. The bone will eventually re-grow with new healthy bone cells, but this can take an average of 2 years. To preserve the roundness of the femoral head in the socket and to prevent deformity while the condition runs its course, Olivia cannot weight bear on her left leg and so is confined to a wheelchair, or crutches around the house, for that time. However she is coping very well and is still her cheerful self and we are very proud of her!
I am hoping to raise as much moneys as I can for the Perthes Association, which supports families and children suffering from this condition.
Please support this special cause by sponsoring me.
