Story
Hi, well, we finished (piccie to prove it) about 18:30 Tues 15th after a bit of cyclocross avoiding the Paris rush hour. All 14 cyclists rolled in just over 200 miles later with nothing worse than a spate of punctures and a hailstorm along the way. Now it's time for all those who were waiting for us to finish before parting with the cash to stump up. The overall target for the trip was £10,000 of which our target from this page was £1,500. So far we stand at approx £8,000 in total as of 17/4, so a last push is required. Thanks to all that have given to date, and thanks in advance to all who are about to. As a reminder of why this trip was organised:
The specific motivation for this trip comes from the situation that a boy called Michael finds himself in. He is now 11 and has kidney failure in both his kidneys. He used to be a perfectly happy and healthy normal boy until 6 years ago when he was suddenly and inextricably struck down with an extremely rare disease. He currently takes 12 different medicines daily and has weekly injections. He cannot stomach food, suffers from high Cholesterol and blood pressure and is having to endure dialysis daily – all as a result of his kidney damage. He misses lots of school and has no energy or stamina to play sport.
Michael is under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital where the Kids Kidney Research charity funds vital medical research. 97% of all its donations go towards identifying the causes of such diseases and attempting to find cures.
