Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We have created a little video telling you our story about why we are running the London Marathon. Please click here to view the video.
In April 2012, Jo`s beautiful 10 month daughter (my granddaughter) contracted bacterial meningitis. She was rushed to hospital where they told us that she was critically ill and to expect the worst. Our whole world was falling apart. She was sleeping and we were unable to wake her. They put her on an antibiotic drip and despite all odds she responded within hours. We spent a tough week in hospital having tests, medication, blood tests and scans. Eventually she was discharged from hospital to attend daily for her drip. Luckily she has made a full recovery.
We can never thank Sparks enough for the vital work that they do. It's partly thanks to their research that an antibiotic for bacterial meningitis has been found. Without that our little princess would not be with us now. We are eternally grateful to this amazing charity.
We have decided to run the London Marathon 2013 and raise as much money as we can for Sparks.
Sparks fund life-saving medical research into conditions affecting babies, children and mums-to-be. They aim to improve the quality of life for children and families affected by serious illness or disability today, whilst seeking ways to better diagnose, treat and prevent these conditions in the future.
Thanks
Peter and Jo x
