My son Conor (15) and I have now both completed the Men's 10k in Glasgow this year, running for the excellent charity - Cancerbackup - a charity specialising in providing accurate, in-depth information on any cancer to anyone affected by cancer.

We would like to thank all our sponsors who contributed so magnificiently to this cause. At the time of writing we are very close to our target of £750 so many thanks.

The run was great fun although as I write this I am lying down with a bag of peas strapped to an aching calf muscle - no pain no gain as they say. As suspected youth held sway and Conor completed the run in just under 50 minutes. This was his first 10K ever and he is over the moon with his performance. I managed to pick up the pace following a little bout of cramp at 3K and made it back in just under the hour, just ahead of Katherine's time (thank goodness!). Blushes well and truly saved!
