Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am raising money for my girlfriend, Anna Turney. She became paraplegic in a snowboarding accident in 2006 and has been selected for the British Disabled Ski Team. Her aim is to win medals for GB, alpine ski racing in the winter Paralympics.
Anna needs funds to help her train abroad in the winter season and summer season if she is to achieve her aim of competing in the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver, Canada. At present Anna is self-funding all aspects of her training.
Anna has recently returned from a three-month training and racing stint in Canada with the British Disabled Ski Team, where she achieved three bronze positions behind the World and European Champions, a 4th and two 5th positions in the North American Races.
So where do I fit in with this?
Well, I made the decision to complete a three-stage event over three consecutive nights in the gym using a different piece of equipment per night - Cross Trainer, Treadmill and Upright Bike. Each night I will complete the equivalent distance of the Three-Peak challenge (18km - total distance of ascent).
I managed to reach 18km on each of the machines in varying times (1 hour 44 mins - Cross trainer, 2 hours 16 mins - Treadmill and 43 mins - Bike) plus played a full game of rugby the following day!
