Story
On June 8th 2018, a group of children’s nurses, doctors and managers from Southampton Children’s Hospital are rowing from Jersey to Southampton to raise money for building a dedicated Children’s Emergency Department in Southampton.
Children in the South of England deserve excellent emergency care. A specifically designed and purpose built Children’s Emergency and Trauma Department will not only
support the continued development of such care but also revolutionise the experience of our youngest patients.
This challenge has been chosen as Southampton Children's Hospital provides specialist services for severely injured and ill children across the whole of the South of England, including the Channel Islands.
Travelling in a small boat from Jersey to Southampton will take approximately 24 hours of continuous rowing, demonstrating the commitment of the hospital team for improving children’s care.
Your donation will be used by the Southampton Children's Hospital Charity to contribute to the £4.2 million build costs for the children's emergency department. The government is match funding, so there's only £2.1 million to be raised by the charity. The J2S row is one of the building blocks towards reaching this target.
