My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So there's no doubt I thought you would like to know the Justgiving 'rules' with a short introduction on how it all works. At the foot of this page you can read why I got involved with the section entitled 'My story'. Any updates will follow at the top of the page.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity
So please dig deep and donate now.
Update 08 May 2010
Just back in from a day of fundraising outside of our local Tesco. A cold day for the three of us but wow what a success with a combined total of £360 from a bit of shake, rattle and roll with the Asthma Collection 'tin'. Still some distance to go on the sponsorship front but making good progress.
As for the training, well who'd have believed it; we're now doing 28 mile runs and trying to achieve this three times a week! There's still life in those old bones and with three month's to go hopefully we'll be on schedule to hit our target mileage.
That's it for now as a warm shower beckons!
Update 04 Mar 2010
Well we've now stepped up the pace and we're out three nights a week extending our runs to 15 miles plus and not doing too shabbily either. As you can see getting online donations certainly isn't easy, hence if you're reading this now you have my very, very sincere thanks. The rest of the sponsorship continues to trickle in and we'll shortly be out fundraising on Tesco's (Newton Abbot) front door with the hope of rattling those tins with some very serious affect!!
Well time to hit the trail again so thats all for the moment....................
Any help, no matter how small or large will be massively appreciated so hit the donate button now!
Update 07 Feb 2010
Slowly, slowly the target gets closer although
getting personal donations is a struggle at the moment, but guess with
the Haitian Earthquake appeal and Sport Relief challenges being
undertaken there are so many competing priorities. If you're looking at
this page right now I hope you'll agree that Asthma UK is a really
worthy cause and even if you can only give a £1 its a real help to the
thousands of Asthma sufferers out there and gives a massive lift to me
knowing that when you're training on a cold winters night there are
people supporting your efforts.
The good news is that thanks to a generous cycle jersey supplier we (three in the team) have been supplied with 'at cost' cycle jerseys which we are now actively seeking advertising revenue for and have already sold our backs for £85!
If its something that you or your company feel is of interest to you please feel free to email me for more details at philipjedwards@yahoo.co.uk.
Well thats all for now as it's time to get the thermals on for some more night training.
Any help, no matter how small or large will be massively appreciated so hit the donate button now!
It all starts here with my story.........
As a child I used to suffer breathing difficulties, usually when I was excited or around animals or in dusty environments. It was the worst possible feeling and one that sadly my 13 year old suffers from more severely than I ever did. In my day it was a little taboo to have it on your medical record in case it held you back in some way. Fortunately with the fantastic work that organisations like AsthmaUK have undertaken no longer is it taboo and medical advances have helped my son lead a normal life.
Sadly with aerosols, fumes and other polutants the work of AsthmaUK is of even greater importance if they are to stem the increase in people suffering with Asthma and vast sums of money are needed to help combat it. Until you've experienced serious breathing problems it's really quite difficult to appreciate, but believe me it really is frightening.
For me struggling to breathe is the scariest thing ever and you wonder will you make it to the next breath! I wonder if I'll make it to Paris especially with the longest day in the saddle being around 80 miles but with your support in achieving my target donation I'll have no choice other than to make it and en route help AsthmaUK continue their fantastic work. This is my chance to recognise their work and help thousands of people enjoy a better quality of life so I hope you to feel it's a worthwhile way of spending 4 days in summer 2010 and donate whatever you feel is right for you.
Any help, no matter how small or large will be massively appreciated so hit the donate button now!
