Story
For some strange reason I have decided to run the Preston Marathon with Kevin Kay on October 28th (obviously because we are both ultimate athletes!).
I have decided to raise money for a charity that means a lot to me- Baby beat.
The ward provided a lot of support to my Mum and Dad when my sister (Gemma) was ill with meningitis.
Alongside my sister, more recently my nephew was born and had to spend time in the neo-natal unit.
The Baby Beat Appeal was established in 1987 and aims to maintain and raise standards in preventative care and foetal well being at the Sharoe Green Maternity Unit at Royal Preston Hospital.
What the Baby Beat Appeal aims to do:
- Each of the 4,600 babies delivered in the Sharoe Green Maternity Unit deserves the best chance of life
- A baby's nine month journey into the world is hazardous and the last few hours and minutes crucial to life
- The Maternity Unit's capital budget provides essentials
- Its midwives and medical staff are experienced and dedicated but need access to the latest technology
- The Baby Beat Appeal allows them to take advantage of the very best in foetal monitoring equipment
- It could be the life of your unborn child or grandchild
