David Philpott, Bob Shirlaw, both RDs in Asset Finance External Sales, successfully completed the Paris Marathon on 9th April and are delighted with the response to their efforts to raise funds for the KatCanDo cancer charity with which Patricia Mowat, Asset Finance impairment & Recoveries, has a personal connection and a close involvement as an active fund raiser. Bob and David were going to be joined in the race by Ruth Chilvers from Commonwealth Bank of Australia, but unfortunately Ruth's medical certificate was not accepted by the race organisers......................a case of over zealousness on the part of our French partners, because Ruth has successfully competed in previous marathons. Ruth came out to Paris to support Bob and David despite not being able to run. The aim of the KatKanDo charity is to help cancer patients under the care of hospitals in North East Hampshire and South West Surrey by raising funds for the provision of equipment and facilities not normally provided by the NHS. So far KatCanDo has raised over ₤150,000, of which £18,000.00 was raised for a Toshiba Nemio Scanner for North Hants Hospital, Basingstoke in October 2007. The monies for this were boosted by The Glad Rags and Handbags Event organised by the Training Team, and also a Bottle Raffle on 26 Oct 2007 at Churchill Plaza. As there are virtually no administrative costs, almost every penny raised goes directly to benefit cancer patients. Barclays have matched several KatCanDo events £for £, and BaSF staff have contributed very generously to many events, for which the charity is immensely grateful. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: KatCanDo, The Frimley Appeal for Cancer Patients will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now and many thanks for your support.
David, Bob and Ruth
