In 2005, GVI Phoenix started working in a small school in San Rafael, in the mountains surrounding Copán. Recently, we have expanded into Barbasco aswell, providing extra teachers, food and fruit for the children, who share classrooms and teachers across all grades. In 2008, we started our own secondary school in San Rafael, paying for teachers to give secondary education, which was impossible before. Now we have 100 children enrolled, from five different communities.

Project wishlist

Without this project, the children would simply not receive secondary education.  By donating just a small amount, the project will receive funding to allow the school to have teachers who can provide official certificates for the children, which goes a long way to achieving our sustainable goals. We can also ensure the children receive a healthy meal each day.

Activities

By working side-by-side with local teachers, coupled with the projects core ideals and aims, we can all be educated in community development and sustainability. The children are the future and secondary education gives them a shot at this future.

GBP10 buys the necessary educational utensils for one child per year

GBP25 buys food and fruit for 10 children for one month

GBP350 pays for the salary of one local secondary teacher per month

Many thanks for everyone who has been a part of GVI Phoenix in Honduras, and thanks in advance for everyone who will be part of it! Please also keep up to date with the blog on http://gviphoenix.blogspot.com/

cheers
