Challenge Adventure Charities - The Alpine Challenge · 25 September 2009 ·

For 25 years, we have organised cycle events, mainly in Europe. We have raised a huge £4,378,361 mainly for cancer, heart and other medical research. We pride ourselves that EVERY PENNY that has been raised has been paid to charity - our participants paying the full fees for event entry themselves.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. 520 miles from Laon near Reimes to Annecy in the Alps.

Well its all over for another year , the weather was perfect, the scenery was fantastic and the teams legs were well exercised by the end!

We managed 9,312 metres of accent over 3 days (Everest is 8,848 metres)

There were some great downhill stretches with swift decents.

( One team had a tri bike with 3 up and reached 53 mph ! )

Unfortunately Gill went over the handlebars on her last leg of the second day and broke her arm , suffered a black eye and bruises. Somehow she still managed to smile and navigate on the 3rd day while the remaining 3 of us covered 162 miles to Annecy.

This year  donations will be split 50% to MacMillan Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK and 50% to "The White Ribbon Alliance" (  http://www.whiteribbonalliance.org/ )  which is an international coalition bound together by a common goal: to ensure that pregnancy and childbirth are safe for all women and newborns in every country around the world.

Many thanks for all your support  ,     Hugh, Suzanne , Karen & Gill.
