Why your donation matters

At PiggyBankKids we work hard to give children the best possible chance of living a healthy and happy life. We want to help as many children as we can: from the vulnerable babies whose lives could be saved with the right scientific breakthroughs, to those kids and young people who have the hardest start in life.

The charity was founded by Sarah Brown in 2002 to help inspiring professionals continue their world-changing work in saving and transforming children's lives.

Researchers at the groundbreaking Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory are working to solve some of the most devastating pregnancy problems and find better ways to look after premature babies. We also operate a Small Grants programme, supporting mentoring programmes to sports provision, children's cancer care and more.

Case study: donations in action

One of our supporters, Jennifer MacFarlane, explains why she supports our work:

"In the first awful weeks after the death and birth of our baby son Gregor, we organised a funeral rather than a christening. During this time we found a number of baby charities that interested us. We have supported several over the years, but the Jennifer Brown Research Fund was different. One cannot help but be moved by the dedication of the team and their outstanding scientific and clinical commitment.

We now have 2 gorgeous little girls aged 5 and 3 and every day we look at them and are so grateful to the doctors in Edinburgh that ensured their safe journey and arrival. There is now happy noisy chaos in our house. We remain confident that future research will help lesson the unbearable pain that many families suffer in the loss of a baby and in the meantime have great pleasure in commending this very special charity to you."
