London Pioneers is a community sports club and Charity, that looks to provide Basketball to as many children as possible in London with some of the best coaching in the country. Its not a cheap undertaking. When the season (sep-apr) is in full flow there are 11 teams that all have a 2 hour practice, twice a week - that's a total of 88 hours - court time costs, on average, £30/hour in London - so that £1.320 a week! Staggering! And that doesn't include all the volunteers and coaching that goes on.
But honestly, I'm doing the ride because its going to be a lot of fun. Its 240 odd miles from the West Coast of England, through Cumbria Natl Park, Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors ending on the East Coast. Since May, I've been training with one of our U16 players (The Lone Dunker) who is also going to be doing the ride.
So I figured if we could raise some money at the same time, then that would really help the club keep up their commitment to providing some great basketball to the children of London. So please look to give whatever you can - the way I figure it if we got 400,000 people to give £1 each - thats....(let me get my calculator) - Holy Cow £400,000 ! So tell everyone you know, and feel free to give more than a pound. Thanks!
