On September 12th 2009 myself and Tiffany are taking part in the Great North Swim around a 1 mile course in Lake Windermere in the Lake District. This is a first for both of us, neither having done anything like this before. We have trained for the past 8 months to make sure that we can make the distance in open water and survive the 17 degree water temperature!
We are aiming to collect sponsorship on behalf of BASIC, Brain and Spinal Injury Centre, http://www.basiccharity.org.uk/, BASIC is a specialist resource for people and their families in crisis following a traumatic brain injury or neurological diagnosis. We personally know people and their families that have been affected by brain injuries and have benefitted greatly from the services BASIC provide.
