Planting Faith Ministries, in partnership with Hand in Hand have a programme of assisting groups of poor subsistence farmers towards self-sufficiency by promoting more marketable crops. The programme started in the diocese of Thika but is being replicated in other diocese throughout Kenya.

In July 2006 a mission team completed Hand in Hand's first pilot scheme with Planting Faith Ministries. Working with a group of 15 farmers from the Juja farm area, the team laid 2000ft of pipe to irrigate their land, before planting 1300 passion fruit seedlings.  The Pilot proved successful and since then 3 other mission teams have planted passion fruit with around 100 farmers in the Thika area. Fruit is sold for export and rejected fruit is juiced for local sale.

Alongside this programme is a bible based support programme to encourage the farmers in their faith and daily lives.In 2009 Hand in Hand mission teams will be planting aloe vera with farmers from an adjacent diocese whilst other crops promoted by PFM include, cut flowers, Green beans and mushrooms.
