As a team, we have each been affected by or know someone who has been affected by cancer. In each experience, the one sentiment that has consistently echoed through has been what an amazing job each local hospice did in supporting and caring for those involved...because of this, we have united together to do our part for the hospice cause!
Throughout 2011, we will be pitting ourselves against the following challenges -
■TrailPlus Adventure Challenge, Pirbright
■The Kingston Dragonboat Race
■The London to Brighton Bike Ride
■The Three Peaks Trek
■Ultimate Fitness Boxing Fight Night
In addition to this, we will be carrying out various other fundraising activities and individual challenges which we will keep you updated upon.
Our collective athletic backgrounds are mixed but far from professional to say the least! Thus to say we will be sacrificing a lot of time and energy to get ourselves into shape to succeed in crossing our respective finish lines!
Our goal is to raise a minimum of £40K, which will be divided evenly between Help the Hospices and the Shooting Star Children's Hospice.
Help the Hospices is an amazing national charity who raise funds and lobby government (and relevant authorities) to support local hospices across the UK, including both the Princess Alice Hospice and Shooting Star Children's Hospice (please visit www.helpthehospices.org.uk for more info).
The Shooting Star Children's Hospice is a purpose built facility based in Hampton, Middlesex which offers a range of care services for children and young people with life limiting conditions. It also provides support for their families (please visit www.shootingstar.org.uk for more info).
The hospice movement is a cause that means a great deal to us. We want to do all that we can to support those involved with this great cause and we need your help!
Shortly we will have a website up and running that will allow you to find out more about us and our progress. We also have a page on Facebook.
We are asking you to be part of our journey by following and supporting what we do, learning about the two great charities that we are representing and if you think we are worthy - sponsoring us as generously as you can afford.
We are not simply asking you for money, we are 200% dedicated to earning your sponsorship and hopefully giving you an insight into the hospice movement and the great work it does. Our long-term goal is to encourage as many people as possible to become part of the movement and support those who require the important assistance offered by great hospices everywhere.
Please, please continue to watch this space, visit the charity websites and support us in everyway you can.
