Thanks for visiting this fundraising page.

We came back from Pleven at the beginning of November and I just wanted to put on this page that we saw real signs of improvement. Things are still very far from easy for the children and the staff still have a lot of challenges but there are a lot more children with Babas and othe things are changing too. There are efforts to feed children out of their cots and from spoons rather than bottles. It is really important that meal times becoming a little more enjoyable and quite a few children have gained weight and look healthier and happier. There is a long way to go but your help has definitely made a difference. Thank you.

We are due to go out to Pleven again on Saturday 15th and are really hoping that some of the people we have told about the children will feel they could make a donation. There is still so much these little ones need just to give them a tolerable kind of life, but there is progress. Most of that is down to people like you who have given before or who have asked us to tell you about the orphanage.
Please help if you can by donating and helping to fund grannies for some of these lonely and helpless children. All the money TBACT raises goes directly to the children as the volunteers fund their own expenses.
Thank you again

August 2009
We have just returned from our third trip to the orphanage in Pleven. 250 children live in a large building. There are not a lot of staff so not much time for more than feeding and cleaning up. Most are under 5 but around 80 children are very disabled. Staff do their best but they don't have the resources that we have here so things are pretty difficult still.
This year we were joined by Vanessa a student volunteer and because the trip was during July and August it was very, very hot! But so rewarding..The children's lives are not easy but we are sure that there is progress. Other charities are helping too - more volunteers are coming - especially over the summer and the conditions on the floors where the very disabled children are have improved thanks to donations from people like you. There is even a small secure play ground with swings (nothing else yet) so the older children get to go outside.
That's why we are asking again for you to donate. Your money will pay for basics like nappies and also fund the growing number of older local women who for just £20 a week provide the nearest things to family these children will ever know. The Babas (grandmas) visit the same child every day to love them, play with them and take them out of the orphanage. We have seen this in action - we know that your money will help change these children's lives. Thank you.
