“Winter Walk” and fund-raising day for the child victims of the Haitian Earthquake.
Dear Parents, Family and Friends,
Five years ago the school embarked on a sponsored walk to raise funds for the Tsunami victims. We plan to repeat the exercise on the afternoon of Friday, 12th February. It will require a fair degree of effort on the part of the children. We will wrap up and, regardless of the weather, set off on our journey. (Mrs White and I covered the walk on Sunday and the going is pretty firm!) However, the path is known as “Puddle Lane” for good reason and the walkers will need robust, waterproof footwear and clothes that won’t mind getting muddy!
This will be a non-uniform day, although suitable clothes and footwear will be necessary for our walk.
The aim of the day is to take the whole school on a fund raising walk (approx. three and a half miles in total) along the footpaths and bridle-paths from Plumtree to the site of St Peter’s Church off Flawforth Lane in Ruddington and back again. Plans are being made to arrange hot chocolate, home-made cakes and biscuits at the halfway point and the school minibus will be in attendance in case any of the younger children get too tired.
Everyone is invited to contribute to our collection which will be donated to the Save the Children’s Haitian Fund. Perhaps the children can ask other family members and friends etc to make donations.
Best wishes,
Neil White
