MISHKIN'S IS OPENING OFFICIALLY IN LATE NOVEMBER...
...BUT YOU CAN GET A TABLE FOR FOUR AT THE EXCLUSIVE "FAMILY & FRIENDS" PREVIEW SIMPLY BY DONATING £250 TO THIS CHARITY ON THIS PAGE.
Yes, we ran a marathon on Sunday 23 October (see below) and we want to raise a bit more money for Venice In Peril. The first four individuals who donate £250 using this page (stating clearly "MISHKIN'S PREVIEW") will each receive a table for four people at lunch or dinner on the Family & Friends Preview (date to be confirmed). This preview is NOT available to the public. All food, wine, cocktails, coffee, everything, in fact, is included. That's a ridiculous £62.50 a head for an impossible-to-get-into-unless-you-are-Russell's-granny event AND it all goes to charity!
We can only accept FOUR tables of four for this exclusive event. Please check the previous donations to make sure that you do not donate to the event if it is already full. (Once you have donated via justgiving.com is it difficult to reverse.)
Hope to see you there.

UPDATE - 26 OCTOBER 2011
RUSSELL & RICHARD COMPLETED THE MARATHON ON SUNDAY 23 OCTOBER.
Yes, after months of training and whingeing, jogging and wincing, we finally did it. 42.2 KM in 4 hours and 31 minutes on a beautifully clear and crisp morning running through the towns and villages of Veneto to the coast and then across the causeway that connects Venice to the mainland. Richard's ankle injury was kept at bay by a cocktail of painkillers and Scottish resolve and I managed to combat my dread of hard work using Vulcan mind tricks.
Thank you to everyone who has been so generous and donated to this worthy charity. We couldn't have done it without you.
Lots of love,
Russell & Richard xx
RICHARD and RUSSELL run for charity!
On 23rd October 2011, Richard Beatty and Russell Norman, the founders of Polpo Ltd, are running the 26th Venice Marathon to raise money for two charities: GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL FOR SICK CHILDREN and VENICE IN PERIL.
Neither Richard or Russell has run a marathon before. Indeed, the furthest Richard has run is 25 yards in the 1971 Tannochside Primary School egg-and-spoon race. He came in at an impressive 5th place. The furthest Russell has run is as far away as possible from any responsibility.
They have both been training over the past two months by going to the gym every day. Their gym sessions have been typified by gruelling programmes causing some degree of discomfort and pain. But last week they had a breakthrough and worked out how to turn the treadmill on.
Richard has also been using ancient Japanese methods to improve stamina and spiritual nourishment and has undertaken many sacrifices to achieve his goal of only eating in KOYA on days with the letter Y in them.
Russell has used his meticulous eye for detail to pore over the small print of the marathon registration documents to see if there is any way he can get out of it now.
Please give generously to these two charities (that's the hospital and the fund, not the two middle-aged losers).
VENICE IN PERIL provides essential funds to rescue and restore the city that inspired the London restaurants POLPO, POLPETTO and DA POLPO.
GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL provides treatment and care to sick and injured children. This charity is particularly close to Russell's heart after his daughter Mabel had an accident last year. (She's getting MUCH better, by the way.)
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe and they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate.
So please dig deep and donate now.
