WE DID IT!!!!!!!
We completed the walk on the 26th June. We started walking at 5.50am and completed the walk at 6.30pm. So around twelve and a half hours!!! The weather was scorching and the route had its difficulties. Our map reading skills were relied upon quite heavily to get us to the end. By the time we had finished we had done just under 27 miles and around about 57000 steps!! We battled horse flies, stinging nettles, fields of cows and one not particularly happy bull!! We had some sore feet, 1 bad knee and 1 bad foot but we made it!!
Thankyou all so much for your donations its really helped us to keep going!! Please keep donating to help us make our library a fantastic place for the students to go to.
Thanks again
Jennie
Four intrepid teachers from Portfield School, a special needs school administered by local charity The Wessex Autistic Society, will be donning their walking boots and trekking 26 miles along the Cerne Valley Trail all in the name of charity. The Cerne Valley Trail is a circular route taking in the hamlets and villages of Minterne Magna, Cerne Abbas, Nether Cerne, Gogmanston, Forston and Charminster.
Frankie Keats, who is a teacher at the school, Andrea Mayo, Jennie Chapman and Katherine Lewis who are all Teaching Assistants, have all worked full time at Portfield for years, with Jennie Chapman having served 7 years at the special needs school located in Parley.
Andrea Mayo comments, “We really wanted to help raise funds for the school and felt the library could really do with a new lease of life. Our aim is to raise enough funds to make the library a really interactive space with bright colourful resources and audio books for the children to enjoy. The addition of comfy bean bags will make story time a real treat and it’s something we’re really keen to achieve for the children.”
So far the fit foursome have raised £250 but hope to raise even more through corporate sponsorship and community members who are willing to donate. Please help them make a difference today by making a donation now.
Thank you!
