Emergency Response Team - Search and Rescue is a charity and Non-Governmental Organisation that ulitises the many disciplines of Search and Rescue to provide a service of locating and saving lives in the UK and abroad. E.R.T. is also a national umbrella body for other Resilience SAR teams.

In 1996, the Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN) was set up by aid agencies to promote learning and best practice within the emergency nutrition and food security sector. Our publication, Field Exchange, is distributed to over 100 countries worldwide. The ENN also cordinates an international interagency collaboration to protect and support infants and young child feeding in emergencies.

When most people think of Search dogs, the first thing that pops into their mind is mountain rescue. However, Emergency Search Dogs is a small team of volunteers based in Scotland, who specializes in locating and rescuing casualties trapped in collapsed structures, simply by using their dogs' natural abilities.

Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) is established in Europe, North America and South and Central Asia. It provides emergency humanitarian relief, principally in the developing world and has over a decade's expertise in fostering disaster-resilient communities and disaster risk management. FOCUS is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

The Foreign Aid Service responds to international emergency situations, and helps desperately poor people with healthcare and income-generation activities. It operates in the framework of the Order of Malta, which provides international, co-ordinated response to suffering in the world through its 46 national associations and Aid Agency, Malteser International.

Gecko Sri Lanka is a student-run charity, set up in response to the December 2004 tsunami. They fund sustainable community-based projects in Sri Lanka including building homes for families displaced by the tsunami, constructing water tanks for villages without clean water & equipping schools with basic education supplies.

It is committed to the relief of poverty throughout the world and the provision of healthcare and education in developing nations. It also supports UK based cancer charities and provides support to the elderly in need.

Hands Across the Water is raising money to build a permanent orphanage for 30 young children in Thailand who were orphaned as a result of the Boxing Day Tsunami. They currently live in makeshift structures in the Takua Pa area. Money raised will build the orphanage, furnish it and provide further care.

HART aims to be a light in the darkness for voiceless and persecuted peoples worldwide. Working with local partners to develop projects that that are sensitive to both their cultural values, HART’s aid is designed to relieve suffering and sow the seeds of longer-term solutions, whilst its advocacy is designed to raise awareness of problems - and solutions - at home and abroad.

The business of hunger in Israel is sadly booming, and the number of meals we provide for is a staggering 400,000, with numbers constantly rising. Currently more than 1.63 million Israelis are living below the poverty line - and the hardest hit includes children from broken or abusive homes, battered women fleeing abusive relationships, Holocaust survivors, and victims of terror. Hazon Yeshaya provides for all these people, regardless of their religious or racial background. Since its inception in 1997 Hazon Yeshaya has ensured that everyone in need receives a hot meal every day of the week at 60 locations around the country. The charity also provides 4,000 meals to children in 25 schools and runs day centres, school programmes as well as vocational training and free dentistry. We need to raise sponsorship for our third cookbook - 'Have We Got More Food For You' - following our previous two best-selling titles which raised over £175,000. We are looking for donations so that all the money raised from our book sales will be converted straight into hot meals. HCF supports disadvantaged young people in the areas of Education, Health and Disaster Relief. The charities we have funded in the past include Weston Spirit, Teenage Cancer Trust, Save the Children and ChildLine. In 2006, 226 grants were made totalling over £1.3m benefiting over 347,000 young people. Hilton funds the core costs of the Foundation, so every £1 goes directly to projects helping young people!

Hope and Aid Direct delivers humanitarian aid directly into the hands of refugees, displaced persons or those at risk. Their focus is currently in Kosovo although aid has also been delivered to Bosnia, Croatia, Romania, Zambia and Sri Lanka. They have no paid staff, only volunteers and are not affiliated to any particular organisation, religion or ethnic group. Their motto is simple: 'We take aid, not sides'

HoverAid hovercraft reach remote rural communities in the developing world, enabling aid, development, relief, and church organisations to reach people who are otherwise completely inaccessible. It's a vital link, bringing hope to communities along shallow rivers, through swamps, and during floods; transporting doctors, enabling education programmes, and supporting local initiatives.

The International Rescue Corps is an independent UN registered disaster rescue service. Formed in 1981 in the aftermath of the Italian earthquake, and has since undertaken numerous missions at home and across the world. All the IRC's services are provided free of charge, our aim is purely to save life.

Maritime Rescue Institute Stonehaven is an independent lifeboat station providing HM Coastguard with search and rescue support via its two SAR lifeboats and 20 volunteer crewmembers for its local area. It has carried out well in excess of 400 rescues. It holds a world reputation for providing training of international lifeboat crews and research and development programmes.

MEDAIR is a humanitarian aid agency providing emergency relief in countries affected by war or natural disaster. It operates in forgotten crises and in areas that are remote and difficult to access. MEDAIR will often be the first organisation to enter such areas and may be the last to leave.

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is the leading non-governmental organisation for emergency medical aid. It is dedicated to providing expert medical relief to victims of war, disasters and epidemics in 80 countries around the world, giving help to those who need it most, regardless of ethnic origin, religion or political affiliation.
