Edenbridge Scouts provide activities for young people
The Fund is to enable a full refurbishment of the headquarters building which was erected in 1969. In particular the roof and structural floor must be replaced at a cost of £25,000 and the electrics, toilets and kitchen need to be upgraded. The estimated cost for the total refurbishment is £55,000. The Group serves the Emmbrook area of Wokingham in Berkshire and has 90 lively members in the Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections. The Headquarters is also used by 50 members of the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. As with all Scout Groups 1st Emmbrook has the Aim of promoting the development of young people in the 6 to 14.5 age range. It achieves this Aim by providing an enjoyable scheme of progressive training including weekly meetings, weekend camps, outings and adventurous activities.
It helps young people to try to achieve their full potential as responsible citizens in their communities both local and nationally.
The current Scout Hut has served the Kennington Group for nearly 50 years. It is steeped in history and character and has some wonderful stories to tell but alas in recent years the structure has deteriorated to the point where, despite extensive 'first aid', it can no longer provide the facilities and needs of the modern Scout Group. Plans for a new Scout Hall on the same site have been drawn up and approved by Ashford Council. The cost is in excess of £250,000 and because they are a voluntary organisation the money needs to be raised by the Scouts themselves and their supporters. With only £50,000 raised so far they have a long way to go and need all the help they can get!
It helps youngsters to take part in a variety of activities, which helps to foster team spirit and become a best citizen. Rutland Air Cadets are part of a large organisation UK wide.
5th Rayleigh Scouts originally formed in 1959 and has been an active Scout, Cub and more recently Beaver group ever since. It wants to continue to build on its long heritage so that many more boys and girls can enjoy and learn the spirit of scouting.
The AV Foundation is an educational charity working with poor rural schools in Africa, Asia and Central America, with plans to expand its target areas in these three continents. The AV Foundation was established by Africa Asia Venture ("AV"), the volunteering organisation, and provides bursaries to deserving and needy children who would otherwise be unable to attend school as well as providing funds for the improvement of school facilities. Projects range from building classrooms, sports and computer facilities, ablutions and in one case included building a bridge to reduce the childrens' walk to school from 2 ½ to 1 ½ hours! Using AV staff on the ground to oversee and manage the projects reduces overheads to a minimum.

Brake is a national road safety charity that works to stop death and injury on UK roads and to support people who have been bereaved or injured by a road crash.
