This project will build a school and training centre in the town of Kumbo, Cameroon, providing a safe learning environment, experienced teachers and support services to 100 orphans living in Cameroon

There are currently hundreds of orphaned and vulnerable children living in Kumbo,Cameroon, according to Self Reliance Promoters (SEREP).These children have been identified as having lost one or both parents whilst living in extreme poverty. Although SEREP works with many of these children, we desperately need our own school to provide them with a supportive learning environment.Having a school would help 100 children yearly and it would be the first of its kind in Kumbo and the surrounding area
The children would be trained in the school on basic literary and numeracy skills. They would also have the opportunity to learn vocational skills in our training centre. Above all they will have a stable, structured environment in which to flourish.
The school and training centre will be able to enrol 100 students yearly. The new premises will also provide for the wider community; the centre will provide further education opportunities for adults and act as a community empowerment meeting point.

This is another report for this wonderful and excellent project. Since our last report a lot has been achieved. After the construction of the first phase as reported in our last report, we continue to reveive volunteers from Uk, Swuansea, New zealand, India etc. Teaching in the school has been markely imporved, the Ovcs have now become students studying in a special school.
We have acquired more English tech books, and with the help of our volunteers whom some of them were trained teachers, a lot has been done.
We are now looking forward to start the 2nd phase as soon as we have some funds so that the present class which is taking place in the volunteers flat and in the sitting room can move in as soon as possible.
Some times volunteers are boud to get up very early when studend come and wants to start their moring classes. How ever Hanna one of the volunteers did their best in the teaching of Enlgish and working in other projects. Here below you can see that the students are serious in their classes and Hanna is suprvesing the work.
One of the pictures with Yellow shirts was taken after the Youth Day celebration where they joined other schools and participated in the martch pass. The Stigma is almost out and they are very happy, open and feel free as they can now interact with students from other institutions without any inferiority complext.
The demand for admision of more ophnaned continue to rise and especially as the 1st phase has been constructed and put to use.
We wish to encouraged well wishers to support this project so that we can continue to train them in a good and conducive study environment.

We are sorry that we have had problems getting pictures on to our report. We are glad to report that finally we are able to have all our supporters view what has been happening in this project after the last report.
With your wonderful support, and other supports from both the Board, and our volunteers on site, we have moved a very big big step by completing the first phase of the project.
Students are already making good use of the beutiful and conducive structure. They are happy and the staff currently teaching there are also very satisfied.
The Communit came out to support this project with the labour and local supplies like Corn fufu, Palm wine and other local support which could help in the feeding of the large pupulation that came out to do the decking.
We did the Painting ourselves togehter with the students and other members of the community. We are making sure that all what comes in for this project is 100% directed to the project.
We are looking on to getting on to the 2nd phase which will create a computer lap, and other two classes. We pray that those who have been supporting this project should continue advocating for the 2nd phase so that we can can realise the full project in the near future.
Feel free to still support or recommend this project as we look forward to raising funds for the 2nd phase to start in March.
We highly appreciate those who have been supporting this project. Your hard earned money was well used and you can now see a beautiful structure for the purpose of providing education for at least 100 students in yearly.
May God bless you abundantly.

First of all I am glad to thank the entire global Giving team for staying by us in times of hard times getting this project going on. I am indeed very grateful to report on this project. In the previous report, we reported on the progress which were able to complete the decking of the first phase.
We have again moved a giant step in that the entere first phase was has been plastered,, the floors cemenred, pilars and the veranders have been completed.
We are currently working on the toilets and looking forward to the painting of the building. We were blessed to have a powerful team of volunteers who supported the project wonderfully for us to acquire more cementn Sand and stones for the on going work.
These volunteers are working very hard to see that even if the first four class rooms are partially completed pending decoration and finishing touches, the students should get in on or before the 10th of December 2012.
Shey Maurice, Miss Jodie, Laura and Paul are all from the Uk and they are happily working in this project.
Shey Maurice had to assist the Director and has been acting as the project Manager during the last one month up to December 15th. We have blessed with this great man sho could carry our a lot phisical work on the project with the students and staff. He has also contributed both financially and phisically in to this project and that is why we have recorded a giant great progress.
We cannot attach all the project pictures because of the nature of our enternate lines. As such this face book links could be visited for more pictures of the project.www.facebook.com/serepngo. A vist should also be made to the project leaders face book for more pictures.
These orphaned and vulnerable children are very happy being involved in the construction project which is aimed at amelorating the studying condition and for quality education to be provided.
I wish to thank all the donors of this project and encourage them share about this project with families and friends for more support to enable us take a shorter time to complete this project.
May God bless all those who cares about the less privileged children and giving them hope through education.

No tongue can express the wonderful progress that this project has been recorded. This is because of the efforts that we employed. The last disubursement which was the highest that this project has ever received took us to a very high level. This encouraged all our volunteers, holiday students and all the staff members including the community to join participate actively in the project
50% of the disbursed money was used for buying wood for the completion of the framework for the last rooms in addition to iron rods, cement, sand and technical labour. We were able to do a lot in the project as you can see from the project pictures.
In fact we are very much delighted to report that within the last one month much has been done because of our financial support.
We are looking forward to do the final decking of the first phase on the 8th of August, if we can raise some money to buy at least 70 bags of cement and timber for the final form work.
We thank those who have been supporting this project and just like Oliver Twist would always do, we wish to inform all who have shown interest in this project to give us another touch. For those who are yet to discover this project to do support should be doing so with great assurance and confidence that all the donation are 100% directed to the project.
We may be able to come up with a video for the community decking exercise of the 8th of September through YouTube.
Thanks to every one who have been supporting this project and those that still to.
May God Bless you.

We are very delighted to report on this Project. Since the last disbursement, a lot of progress has been made. Though after exhausting the funds, some local fund raising was made. The funds were used for buying some cement and iron rods to cover the library section.
At this point in time, we have received a disbursement from Global Giving from one visitor who visited the Project and was very much impressed.
He visited the OVcs in the present dilapidated and in-conducive site and then the Construction Project.
We are expecting to move a step with his donations.
We are progressing with the available resources. Thanks to all our previous and current supporters.
We would like to report that the first phase has gone above 50% and if we are are still working on gaining support, so that this first phase is completed and put to use by September 2012. We give a lot of thanks to the lone donor of the month to the tune of 800 USD, which we have just received and looking forward to taking another great progress in the project.

It is our pleasure to report on the progressive nature of the Project Provide Education for 100 Orphans in Cameroon.
We were caught up by the dry season after moving a giant step with the last disbursement.
We were able to make the form work, buy some iron rods, paid the technicians to work on the Decking work.
We continue to receive Volunteers who are grateful to see where your support is going and actually what it is used for.
Below are the most recent Volunteers from UK who really appreciate the work with the Children in the rented apartment.
Rains have come again and hopefully we are soon to resume the decking work again.
However, we still need some support to enable us get on with the work and to eventually complete the first phase of the project. We are really very grateful to all our donors and wish them all the blessings.

Within the last three months and after the last disbursement we have been able to do much on the Construction Project. This is in a struggle to provide Education to at least 100 orphaned and vulnerable children yearly. We wish to appreciate the Global Giving and Donors and supporters of this project.
All the Orphaned and vulnerable children currently receiving training in the present unconducive structure were very happy to see and participate in the project. They participated and contributed enomousely in terms of labour.
We received a visitor who knew us through Stuff your Rucksack website and visited the project as you can see in the attached project pictures.
We also embarked on local fundraising before recording this jiant step. Since it needs quite a reasonable sum of money to deck the whole building once, we decided to partition the decking work in to two phases.
The first phase is currently going on with the available resources and progressively. We are still soliciting for our donors to use their face books and even the Project Page to recommend this project for support to enable us complete and put the building in to use by May 2012.
The Pictures here shows the work at the top of the building (Primliminary works) and another one shows our visitor from US who was very satisfied with the project and another shows the inner part of the building.
Thank you once more and May God Bless you through out this Christmas season.

We are delighted to give another report with sincere thanks to our donors and especially to Meg Dallet and Laurel Chor (GlobalGiving Visitors) July 2011.
We are convinced that their reports presented in our Projects site gave the donors the realities and in conformity with our previous reports. Since they left, we were anxiously waiting for funds to get on with the work.
The students resumed studies on the 12th of September after a three months long Holidays. They did much on the project together with the caregivers. They kept the project cleaned and worked on the road to the site.
Finally we received a disbursement of 290 US dollars equivalent to 131,000frs. With this, we were able to buy 0ne trip of sand at the cost of 120,000frs and with the local Fundraising, we added and brought the poles that were bought with the previous funds.
These poles are to be used in supporting the Form work of the Decking. Since we were not able to complete the 1st phase, we are still in the rented premises which is not conducive at all.
Now that students have come back from Holidays, we have again got human resources and more work shall be done. Once we are able to receive another disbursement, as we are also struggling with local Fund raising, we will be able to do much.
I wish to thank all the donors for their wonderful support. We will continue to do our best as we progress with the fund raising

My name is Meg Dallett, and I’m an In the Field intern with GlobalGiving in Cameroon this summer. I’m traveling around the country visiting all the GlobalGiving-partnered NGOs, and I’m writing this postcard to pass on some of what I’ve seen to the donors who have given to this organization.
...
It’s not easy running a small school for orphans and vulnerable children in Cameroon. They have no support from the government, and the students certainly can’t afford the expensive fees that keep some other private schools running around here. And landlords keep raising their rents—as a result, Self Reliance Promoters’ school has had to move at least three times in a little over a decade. That’s why their project to build a new school, constructed on their own donated land, will make such a big difference to the orphans who are trying to beat the odds and graduate.
Maxillene, Charlotte and Annette from Self Reliance Promoters’ NGO (SEREP) showed us around the building. They’re all former students from one SEREP program or another, and have now come back to teach classes and help manage the organization’s day-to-day workings. Maxillene told us that students (ages 12-16) come and help out with the construction—“They’re so excited,” she said. “They know that they are building a school that is theirs.”
They’ve definitely made a lot of progress in the last several months and are using the most efficient materials possible, but now the funding has dried up and so things have come to a halt. It’s going to take a few more donations before they can finish the building and students can move in! Even a little bit goes a long way; the teachers showed us a huge pile of materials that came from just $20. SEREP raises all its funding from GlobalGiving, so the donations they’ve received for the school have been a great cause for celebration. Maxillene was effusive about the donations they’ve received so far: “We are working very hard here, but we want to say thank you to the donors, and may God bless you.”

This project was designed to help in the provision of quality education to orphaned and vulnerable children in Cameroon in the following many dimensions. Firstly, we want to construct and equip conducive classrooms where these children could be receiving training and in a permanent structure. The Project is on a steady progress and in phases according to the available means at a time. All construction has been done, all the cross beams have been completed. In short, we have completed the construction up to the final beam of the first phase. During the month of May, all the students participated in the transportation of the timber to the site. All timbers are now packed on the construction site beside the gravel (concrete) for the decking. The timbers shall be used for concrete boxes, while gravel shall be mixed with sand and cement for the decking floor. We are working are continuing with the making of the decking block. Cement and sand are bought and taken to the construction site where the decking block is taking place and ready for use when all the needed material for the decking is available. Decking a building like this one requires a one time decking because it can not be done in bits. This means that we have to make sure that all the decking blocks are made. We have so far made 800 decking block expecting to make the remaining 1200 to make up the required 2000 for the decking. According to the technicians, they requested for 200 poles to be used in supporting the concrete boxes and the decking to carry the decking floor. We have bought the poles and soon will transport them to site. We expect to do more and at the moment, we are getting closer to the decking proper. This is because we have got up to 65% of what is required for the decking like. Concrete gravel is ready, timber is ready, there is part of the sand on the site, timber has been bought and transported to the site, and poles have been bought awaiting transfer to the site and the local labour is always available. If we are at this level it is because of the generosity of our donors and the Global Giving that gave us financial support to acquire all what we have got so far, paid the technical works that is not easily supplied for free. We are doing our best in managing the funds as all what is destined for this project is 100% directed to it. We are glad to report that we are waiting to receive a team from the Global giving to visit this project and hopefully, we shall be reporting on their visit and and what we have done together within the time they will be here. We promise to get to the completion in an efficient manner. Our Ovcs, admire the project and are eager to start using it as soon as it is ready come September if possible. We dedicate this report to our able donors and those yet to donate to enable us complete the project.

We are filled with gratitude to Global Giving for this opportunity and to all the donors who have ushered their hard earned money to this project (Just for the sake of these children). We want to report on the project in a brief manner. Since November, we have been experiencing the dry season which became very hash from December till now. In Kumbo, Water is a major problem during the dry season. People scramble for water throughout because most spring sources become dry. As such, big projects that need much water i.e. using Cement blocks is usually shifted towards the rainy season as from March 15th. With the funds that were disbursed, we were very busy with preparations to resume work at the project site as soon as the rain comes. From the pictures below, We were able to add more Timbers, Brought Sand to the site, Added more Gravel and brought to site, and have made all arrangements for the Iron rods, technicians. We sincerely owe much thanks to our supporters and promise that if we are given a push again we might be able to finish the first phase after this bonus Match of the 16th. The OVCs are happy participating in the getting of the material to the site when ever sand gravel and others are brought for transferring to the project site. Below we have only got photographs of the materials and immediately work resumes we are going to send updated pictures and work at the site. As we started, it will be highly appreciated if we complete the project. We are requesting all our previous donors to get involved in the campaign during and recommendations so we can get the bonus this time. Last time we only missed narrowly and this time we will make it. May God continue to bless you. I will end with a God news that We were awarded with a Partner Position and now we are looking on to getting to the Leader position. It is through your efforts.
Wirkom Fred Mbiydzenyuy
Work has been on a steady progress as funds are being disbursed. With the disbursement of up to September 30th, 2010, we were able to make up and a Trip of River Sand was bought and transported to the site. We have also received the Match funds and have added more Sand and looking forward to the acquisition of a few bags of cement to start making the decking block. As you can see from the attached pictures, we want to do the decking by March and we are facing a challenge of buying more sand and cement, Iron rods just to cover the top. We are at 65% because of your wonderful support.
We have been following the rules of the GG by way of making sure that funds are directed only to the project earmarked for. We are delighted to inform all our Donors that our students (OVCs), Care givers, Board members and volunteers are highly committed to the project. With your continues support we are expecting to complete by 2011,
Thank you very much for your recommendations and continues support enhance the education of OVCs in this part of the world.
May God bless you for joining our cause
.
Carmina Czackis
We’d like to thank our latest donors for their contribution to our project. We have reached the sum of $1,650. The construction project resumed and the final beams and pillars were completed. With technical advice the remaining work was prioritized and a total of 160 timbers were sawed and transported to the site to be used for decking. Work continued with the production of concrete (gravel) which shall be used for the decking.
The Youth Centre has been transformed into the School of Management, Accountancy and Computer Studies, since a divisional authorization has been granted and a technical report was issued by the Divisional Delegation of Employment and Vocational Training to the Ministry for Ministerial Confirmation.
Identification of OVCs continued, and we were able to enroll 12 OVC pupils within the current intake. We need sponsors for these children in terms of educational materials and participation fee.
If you know anyone who could help us in meeting our goal of offering a stable education to these disadvantaged pupils please forward the following link so they can also donate. Thank you again for your support.
Julie Dimond
We’d like to thank everyone who supported our recent ‘Provide Education for 100 orphans in Cameroon’ campaign. We managed to raise the sum of $1460, and although this didn’t meet the $5000 needed to complete our school construction, it is a major step towards its completion. It has also earned us a permanent place on the GlobalGiving site, which offers people the opportunity to continue donating towards this project. The money raised is being used to buy cement and iron poles to begin the construction of the roof section of our building. In order to complete the first phase we still need to raise the remaining funds, and then we can begin to look towards using the building as a permanent school. This will allow us to move from our existing location and will relieve us of the rents we are currently paying. This money can then be redirected towards enrolling more OVC pupils. At present 50% of the school body is made up of OVC pupils, our aim is to increase this by 50 extra OVC pupils within the new September intake.
Students are happy to be involved in the construction of their new school (see photo). If you know anyone who could help us in meeting our goal of offering a stable education to these disadvantaged pupils please forward the following link so they can also donate. Thank you again for your support.
