About The Prostate Cancer Charity

The Prostate Cancer Charity provides support and information to anyone concerned about prostate cancer. It also funds research into the causes of, and treatments for, prostate cancer.

In addition, it works to raise the profile of prostate cancer.

The Charity's confidential help line, staffed by trained nurses, is open from 10 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. The nurses answer questions from anyone concerned about prostate cancer.

You may be a man who has it, or be worried that you might have it. You may have a close family member who is affected, or be a wife who wants to know more. Anyone with a concern can ring The Prostate Cancer Charity Helpline, and the nurses will do their best to answer your questions - or find out more if they don't know the answer immediately.

The Prostate Cancer Charity also funds specialist prostate cancer nurses. The first specialist nurse works at Charing Cross Hospital, London, and offers face-to-face support, and continuous help from the point of diagnosis onwards. The specialist nurse is an informed and skilful friend who can help with decision making, meeting with urologists and surgeons, and talking to the families of men with prostate cancer.

The Prostate Cancer Charity provides a range of literature on prostate cancer. This is sent to individuals in the UK free of charge. All the information is also available for download and printing from www.prostate-cancer.org.uk

The Charity has a research team, based at the Imperial College School of Medicine in London, investigating the causes of prostate cancer, and possible treatments, and also funds other researchers in a range of areas, including basic science, treatments and social aspects of the disease.
