My story

Hello and thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

For those of you that know me and my family well you will have been well aware of our tragic circumstances over the last few years. Loosing mum so suddenly 5 years ago (in March) was the hardest thing we have all had to deal with in our own ways, some better than others!

This leads me onto my dad, well what can i say? Hes amazing and is total inspiration for me and my sister. He never gives up and always supports us 100%.

So finding out he had Cancer last year was a total blow to everyone.

However he has faced this hurdle like every other and has come through 2 operations and a course of radiotherapy with figthing spirit.

March was The Prostate Cancer Charities Awareness Month and everyday throughout March he was recieving his radiotherapy treatment in Leeds.

So I decided to do something different to help support him and also raise the awareness of this terrible disease.

On the 10th March 2009 I signed up with Discover Adventure to do a challenge of a lifetime to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity.

They say in difficult times you know who your friends are...and well...i can honestly say hand on heart that we have some amazing friends. There are too many to name but thank you all.

After looking at various fundraising challenges I decided to go for it and trek across New Zealand. I had hoped to complete this event in November, but has now been rescheduled for March 2010. So I will be setting off on 27th March 2010 with Matt, Jonny and Gaynor for a challenge of a lifetime!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Prostate Cancer Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please support us and my family in raising our target of £10,000.

One day it may affect someone close to your heart

Thank you,

Gemma, Richard and Charlotte Plowright

Matt King and Jonny Trumble
