Alcohol can lead to excellent decision making...

Rewind back to May. I was on my eighth bottle of Heineken in the SWALEC Stadium watching a pair of gladiators go to war in the ring when two thoughts entered my mind. One: I would love to get into the best shape of my life and fight and  two: I could murder a doner kebab. 

That night I proved myself right about the kebab -- I did indeed murder it -- thus I realised I must also be right about the boxing shizzle. 

The 1st and 2nd of October, Help for Heroes will be taking over the Tramshed in Cardiff for two nights of boxing. I will be lacing up my gloves--
*Checks gloves. Sees they've got Velcro fasteners.*
I will be Velcroing up my gloves and stepping into the ring for a 6 minute boxing bout.

Between then and now bags will be punched, runs will be long and chickens will be chased. The training, much like my footwork, isn't going to be pretty. It's going to require a steel will and a tsunami of blood, sweat and tears -- and that's just giving up booze for eight weeks.

In a just world Help for Heroes wouldn't exist. Our Government would honour the bravery and sacrifice of our armed forces by fully supporting them and their families. Sadly we don't live in that world so if you can make any donation to this brilliant charity it would be greatly appreciated.
