Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
We're running the Great Manchester 10km run to raise money for Childrens Aid Robert Broude Memorial Fund on behalf of the Young Oncology Unit at Christie's Hospital, Manchester.
Our friend Rob died of a rare form of cancer on 18th December 2004, aged 19. In his short life, Rob proved to be an inspiration to all his friends and family by still striving to achieve his ambitions. He passed his driving test, achieved brilliant A-level results and went to university where he completed his first term at Sheffield. All the while, he didn't lose his stupid sense of humour or ridiculously loud and infectious laugh.
For the last three years of his life Rob spent a good deal of his time at the Young Oncology Unit. While he was there, he often talked about the need to expand the very limited day care area and make it more comfortable for patients and their families. In his memory, the Fund has been set up to do just that.
The money raised is being used to transform the current Oasis Room facility into a stand-alone unit, which will be a home from home for young patients and families. Somewhere that's more inviting where they can relax, play computer games and watch television before and after essential treatment.
So please sponsor us!
