The reason why I wanted to this London to Paris Challenge from 29 August to 2 September 2007 is because I believe on this worthy cause. After I came back from the Philippines for my Nan's funeral, I have this goal of doing something imperative in her memory. My Nan was a devoted public servant and always there 24-7 to anybody who needed help and always aimed on making a difference on someone's life. She confided that the thought of becoming totally dependent to her family terrified her when her illness gets worst. She was full of life and very independent so she hated the idea that all these will changed. But Filipinos pride themselves in looking and taking care of their elders and so it would have been natural for my family to do so.
I empatise with people who have Alzheimer's disease and other dementias for it must be very hard to gradually become dependent to carers and families on everything. While on the other hand, it must be devastating and distressing for the family to see their loved ones' deteriorating mental health especially to such person whom they looked up all their lives and become a total stranger to them.
Any amount that you can contribute in this reputable charity would make a real difference. So please dig deep and sponsor me online now!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
I was originally booked for the Alpine Cycle Challenge which was cancelled due to lack of interests. And I decided to do London to Paris as an alternative because I already been training for several weeks and had organised some fundraising events. I don't want to let down those people who believed in me.
Many thanks for your support.
