About ASHA
Asha for Education is a non-profit, secular and voluntary organisation dedicated to socio-economic change in through education. Its mission is to address poverty by enabling 's poorest children to gain access to quality education. Asha has raised more than $4 million to date and currently supports 385 projects across . Asha is merely a group of professionals and students who are passionate about helping marginalised children and their communities.
The defining feature of Asha is its 'no-overheads' policy - we work on a zero organisational cost model and all administrative expenses are met by the core volunteers. 100% of your donations will be sent to the projects in and directly benefit the children we support.
Asha works in close partnerships with development organisations who work at grassroots-levels, understand local issues and run the various educational projects in . These projects provide schooling and basic housing facilities to children from extremely impoverished backgrounds - they include orphans, children of prostitutes, bonded labourers and marginal farmers. The formal education programme is integrated with community programs where possible, to promote women's empowerment, vocational training, organic farming and employment for people with disabilities.
