Thanks very much for visiting my fundraising page.
I have entered myself to compete in the Great North Run this year. It takes place on Sunday 20th September. I admit, it's a lot of effort just to try and get on TV. As with all these things, it's nice to raise some money during the training process and I have decided to make the 21097.5 strides in aid of the Orangutans of Malaysia.
Why? Well, about three years ago I visited the Orangutan sanctuary in Sepilok, Borneo. I was impressed with the work they were doing there, helping young orphaned orangutans learn basic life skills to prepare them for a return to the wild. It's a long and costly process, but it is essential for the survival of this beautiful species in times where the palm oil industry is destroying so much of their natural habitat.

I understand that this charity may not be deemed as universally important compared to other charities, but if you can find it in your heart to make a small contribution then I believe these little orange apes would be very grateful.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Orangutan Appeal UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
.....And that's it, I am now in the final week leading up to the event. Training is over. Injuries have so far been avoided. Fingers crossed I don't miss the bus on Sunday!
Gabreselassie is my hero.
