Story

Hi Everyone

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

In January, I will join a group of people in Ecuador, to climb Cotopaxi, the world's highest volcano. At 5897 metres and with the final day's ascent a gruelling climb up a glacier, questions as to the wisdom of my participation may be justified and certainly extra training is in order!

However, there can be no questions as to the purpose of the trek which is to raise funds for two great charities: Reach and Steps offer support and assistance to children and their families with upper or lower limb deficiency. Visit www.reach.org.uk and www.steps-charity.org.uk to read more on the charities.

My personal link is to Reach, as my son Eamon, pictured above on his first mountain climb, was born missing his right hand and with a congenital contracture of his right elbow. Reach offers practical advice and emotional support, it operates a bursary scheme for the purchase of special equipment and runs a summer camp where members build self confidence by taking on challenges such as abseiling and canoeing. Reach has been a great support to us as parents and I have no doubt Eamon will benefit greatly from his membership as he grows and matures.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support and generousity.

Paul
