Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I completed the Marathon in 6 hours and 49 minutes, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done...but I woudl do it all again and it has not put me off Marathons!
Thank you to all those who have donated online and off-line - your kind words of support helped me through the difficult bits of the training and the marathon...especially when I cried for a mile at a ound mile 24!
For those of you who can't keep up, I will be running in my 5th marathon on April 26th this year and raising lots of much needed funds for a fantastic charity, Cancer Care Cymru.
Some of you may be thinking " Why is this a challenge because you've run 4 marathons already?" - well, I've decided to do this one in f ancy dress. Oh yes people, watch out coz here I come in a rather BIG Welsh dragon costume...let's hope that it won't be too hot day...
Cancer Care Cymru is a unique cancer charity which has been developed sepcifically to provide information, support and care for people in Wales affected by cancer. The charity's main aim is to fund specialist nurses to work alongside NHS staff in Welsh hospitals. In particular to work alongside consultants in out patient clinics when patients are first told they have cancer and need support throughout diagnosis and treatment.
I'm not intending on breaking any records, I'm doing it because I want to raise as much money as I can for Cancer Care Cymru. £5,000 is a big target, but a challenge I'm willing to smash.
Cancer Care Cymru Gala Dinner - A special Gala Dinner with Guest Speaker MAX BOYCE has been organised to help reach the target of £5,000. This fantastic evening of entertainment will be at the Park Plaza, Cardiff on Friday 29th May 2009. There will also be a Q&A hosted by Carolyn Hitt with Welsh Rugby Stars. If you're interested in buying tickets for this event, please contact Pat Tanner at Cancer Care Cymru on 029 2054 6670. Tickets are £49 each which includes a drinks reception followed by a 3 course meal. There will be an auction and a raffle during the evening with some amazing prizes on offer.
I hope you're able to give as much as you can to this fantastic charity, your gift will help those suffering with cancer in Wales receive the support and care that they need during a very difficult time.
Thank you for all your support, and if you're in London on the 26th April then why not come and shout at me whilst I make a fool of myself running through the streets of London!
Many thanks - Beca x
