      In two and a half weeks I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Bone Cancer Research Trust in memory of Guy Francis. Those who knew Guy knew not only was he a fantastic, funny and very loyal friend, he also really believed in fundraising and research into Osteosarcoma, the cancer he managed to at first fight and win but eventuality lost his battle against. Guy did parachute jobs and promoted fundraising, encouraging friends to join in to try find a cure into this agressive form of cancer, and I will always try at least every few years keep up that fundraising Guy so wanted us all to do. Heres the current challenge and its been a long long time since I've done a long run.

      You can read Guy's story here at http://www.bcrt.org.uk/mbcs_my_story.php?l=guy_francis and I will try find lots of silly pictures to share that sum up just who Guy was (most will involve fancy dress as he was a bit partial to throwing parties which we had to wear fancy dress for).

      Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

      Ten slightly over-weight, nearly middle-aged men are looking to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in October.  This involves visiting the summit of Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales all within 24 hours - climbing 10,000 feet and walking 36 km (over 22 miles) in the process!

      We are doing this in memory of our friend Guy Francis who lost his battle to cancer ten years ago, and in the process hope to raise £5000 for the Guy Francis Bone Cancer Research Fund.  Guy felt it was essential that there should be research into the primary bone cancer osteosarcoma from which he had suffered and for which he had already worked hard to raise funds himself. His family and close friends promised him that this would be continued in his name – Guy Francis Bone Cancer Research Fund.

      Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page and for supporting our fantastic team of runners in the Jane Tomlinson Run for All - York 10k on Sunday 5th August 2012.

      The charity was founded by Guy when, as a teenager, he was himself a bone cancer sufferer and was shocked that there was no government funding for research into this devastating cancer.

      He abseiled off the Humber Bridge, he did a tandem parachute jump and encouraged his friends and family to take on personal challenges to raise funds themselves in order to help other sufferers in the future.
