    Three Peaks Challenge

Our fundraising pages 34

  • Callum-McHale

I am going to complete the Three Peaks challenge in remembrance of my cousin Connie Moore, who I lost on the 19th of January to Meningitis. This was a devastating loss for the whole family and we are now doing all we can to improve awareness of Meningitis and make sure this never happens to another family again.

Please help us raise as much as possible for a great cause!

    Miss you everyday Con. XXXX

Our colleague and member of Team Purple, Ben Moreland's daughter Ella, recently had a best friend of hers die very suddenly of Meningitis at the tender age of 16.  We have all been touched by this story and have chosen to fundraise in Connie's memory.

We have selected an event that we will all find personally challening as we are not experienced walkers. The challenge consists of walking the coastal path from Weymouth to Swanage, possibly with diversions where the path has fallen away or is dangerous. We have been told anyone expecting a gentle stroll along the cliffs will be in for a shock! Ironically, it's called the Dorset Doddle. The distance is 32 miles, passing through the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site over some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in England, but includes some tough climbs on the way which amount to 3000 metres.

We are hoping to raise £1000 for the Meningitis Research Foundation. What we like about the charity is its objective to promote education and awareness.  It reminds us what a real threat meningitis is, particularly to children, and how little many of us know about it.

We are therefore dedicating a lot of our own time to train as a team in order to accomplish this challenging event.  We would very much appreciate all of your support in helping us to achieve this and to raise money for this good cause.

Whilst working for Meningitis Research Foundation I had the honour of getting to know some of Connie's friends and family. Connie sadly passed away suddenly after contracting meningitis earlier this year. They are an inspirational bunch of people, although I never met Connie, the reaction of her friends and family prove she must have been a very special person. Any donations are very much appreciated by Connie's friends and family.

On 19th January 2014 we tragically lost Connie Moore to Meningitis.

My arm was twisted by my dear friend Kathleen Moore to join the 29 runners who were already taking part. So I'm joining 'Team' Connie in the now 30 strong team to increase awareness and raise as much money to support the Meningitis Research Foundation; so hopefully one day no one has to go through this terrible loss.

If you are able to help out by making a donation no matter how small, I would be really grateful. Thank you in advance!

On January 19th 2014 a lot of us lost a very special, treasured friend. 16 year old Connie lost her battle the meningitis after a strong fight, and in her memory and to raise money for Meningitis Now I am braving it and jumping 10,000ft out of a plane. There are no words to describe the sadness that was and still is felt by everybody who knew her. Never failing to make people laugh and ease a situation, Connie was a really special daughter and friend. She is dearly missed by all, and in my thoughts every waking day. Any donation is appreciated, please take the time to give. I'm aiming to raise £400, and reckon we can get well over that! Thank you, Ellie x

Connie Moore was an amazing daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. She was a very talented girl, who had such a bright future ahead of her; she was not your standard teenager, she was extraordinary! Not only was she a bright girl who was planning her future, completing her GCSE’s and looking at further education and a career, she also had a beautiful voice which she contributed to the community via the “Funky Little Choir Co”.  She had the kindest soul and was always there for her friends, with such a bubbly and funny personality.

Unfortunately she was taken far too soon; she lost her battle to bacterial meningitis on 19 January 2014 at the young age of 16.  A trail of devastation and emptiness has been left behind. What will not be forgotten is her wicked, contagious laugh and beautiful smile, which would brighten everyone’s day; the wonderful moments she shared with everyone in her life and the special memories she created. Nothing will replace her, but she will live on in all of our hearts and minds. Please help us raise the money to prevent this devastation in other people’s lives and show Connie what an amazing and valued person she was and how much she will be missed. Rest In Peace Connie….

A fundraising event has been organised – “Fitness Fight for Meningitis”. This will take place on Saturday 22 March 2014 at 10:00am at Pure Gym Bournemouth.  However if you are unable to attend, please make a donation. All money raised is going to a great cause.

Connie died suddenly, on 19th January this year, after contracting meningitis.  We are devastated by her loss.  Running 10 kilometres seems a small thing to do after such a tragic event but I think Con would be impressed because it's so out of character.

I hope you know how much we miss you Con - I've even signed up to Facebook so we can watch you sing.  Dyl kisses you on the phone each time.  Immy has told him you are watching them both all the time.  Your loss is a huge hole in their lives.

    We love you baby.

Charities we're helping 2

  • Meningitis Research Foundation

    Meningitis Research Foundation

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.

  • Meningitis Now

    Meningitis Now

Meningitis Now is a charity with almost 30 years’ experience. Formed in October this year by bringing together Meningitis UK and Meningitis Trust, founders of the meningitis movement in the UK. We exist to save lives and rebuild futures by funding research, raising awareness and providing support.
