I am the Vicar for Kennington Church near Oxford, I am 68 years old and will be unique in that I will be the first vicar to have attempted this arduous challenge along with being this year's oldest British entrant.
I have been inspired to raise funds for this charity through my contact with people of all ages affected by cancer and in particular a 10 year old boy named Luke Frost who died from a brain tumour.
My aim through Cancer Research is to provide specific funding support to the work currently being undertaken by Professor Adrian Harris, and in particular his ground breaking research into an individually tailored cancer treatment device that uses a patients' DNA - work that will hopefully make a difference to cancer patients around the world.
For those of you who have never heard of the Marathon des Sables it is reputedly the "toughest foot race on earth", and involves running the equivalent of almost six marathons over a seven day period across the Sahara desert.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
