Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am aiming to lose 3 stone and run the London Marathon for the second time in 2022!

UPDATE - We are two days from the London Marathon. Winchester had changed the date without telling those oof us who'd booked in advance, so that was cancelled. I had Covid in August and haven't had the energy to train since, but I am going ahead and doing it anyway, even if I have to walk it.

Thank you to each of you who've sponsored me, this is really encouraging. Please feel free to download the London Marathon App and track me: I will start around 11am, and my race no. is 22579

UPDATE - I have also now signed up for the Southampton Half Marathon on 24th April 2022 & Winchester Half Marathon on 18th September, before the big day in London on 2nd October!

I managed to complete it in 7hrs 6mins and will be aiming for a time under 5 hours!!! But this isn't the real reason I'm running the marathon - I'm running for my daughter who has Type 1 Diabetes, I'm running and raising money to find a cure and to help research better technology that means she will have an increased quality of life.

Type 1 Diabetes has got nothing to do with diet or lifestyle, it just happens. When you have Type 1 diabetes, your body attacks the cells in your pancreas that make insulin, so you can't produce any insulin at all. And we all need insulin to live.

Living with Type 1 means regular blood sugar tests 4+ times each day, regular injections 4+ each day (or connecting a cannula every 3 days if you have an insulin pump), regular high and low blood sugar episodes.

Please help us find a cure for this horrible condition.
