I am supporting UCARE because it is a very special charity to me because my Dad died of urological related cancer at Christmas last year. The charity UCARE was founded by the doctors who supported my Dad, my brothers, my Mum and me, all the way through his illness. I am 13 yrs old and inexperienced in fundraising, but am determined to raise money for UCARE in memory of my Dad.
The doctors and nurses fought for him, he fought for us and now I am fighting for all of them and the only way I can see that I can do this is by raising the money they need to carry on with research to fight this awful disease, educate people and support patients and their families in what I know to be devastating and frightening times. I am still in touch with many of the people from the UCARE team and people who helped my Dad all the time he was ill. My target amount to raise would be ₤3000 and I would really appreciate if you could help us reach that target.
I am setting up a sponsored ride in the aid of UCARE on Sunday 23rd August. Thanks to Wakefield who have given us the opportunity to ride around the estate, also Plum Park have given us the opportunity to ride around the cross-country course if desired by the riders. All entries on the day are raising a minimum of £25 sponsorship.
Already I have been doing some fundraising at my school (Sponne) and raised ₤595.08. This was due to a project we named ‘Strictly Sponne Dancing’ this was a great hit and for a school we raised a lot of money.
