It saddens me greatly to say I will be unable to go to this May on the planned Trek. This decision has not been easy for me to make but the final choice was not mine but on the advice of  my Doctors , and the fact that raising the needed sponsorship for this May’s trip has proved very difficult ,committing to a future date would be very difficult due to planning.

If you’ve have made a donation and wish this not to go to “Help the Aged” then I will need to cover this myself, as the money raised to date has been committed.

Can I say thank you for all your support and encouragement and apologises to you all.

Many thanks RR

Why am i going to China and trek the great wall

On April 5 1990 I was involved in a RTA.....Coach vs bicycle” I was on a bicycle” I spent weeks in a hospital bed after an operation. I met a man who had both his legs amputated (his name I forget) and yet he had such  strength of mind and positive outlook on life. One thing I remember about him is that he was the only one on the ward  to get out of bed for his meals.

I was fortunate to have a TV and watched the 1990 London Marathon with him and said to him that one day I would do it. Due to my injuries the doctors said that this would never be possible, and stick to just walking.

Now some 19/20yrs later I feel that I must do something in a way to uphold that pledge, and plan to trek 63kms of the Great Wall of China in 5 days (not including traveling to and from) to say thank you for my leg!!!!!!
