My story

Some would say why a bike ride of that length or why one at all. To answer that I need to tell you a little bit about Lynn.

Lynn loved life to the full, when it was not work commitments it was partying with friends & colleagues a like.

So when we had the wind knocked out of our sails, we both knew we had to learn as much about this MS as possible so we could fight it & win.

When Lynn came out of hospital in 2005 & both struggling to come to terms with everything I announced that I was going to do a huge ride, not just to raise money but awareness to this debilitating disease. At the time I was riding a basic mountain bike with full off road tyres & not riding much more than 15 miles at a time, but Lynn was all for it.

Lynn was set to be my pa on route & talked of what good we was going to do, but sadly that was not to be as on the 26th of August 2007 at 10am Lynn took her last breath, she was not alone myself my mum & dad & her best friend Wendy was there to hold her & some how let her go.

So now Lynn's pain has been taken from her I can now do the ride of a life time & Lynn in a round about way is coming with me as I am taking her ashes on the bike with me & spread in places that I stop at..

Before I start this mammoth task I would like to thank both family's that's Lynn's & mine & a shed load of friend's that have made the last year easier than it could have been.

John O'Groats Here I come & hopefully Lands End in only 10 days of riding.

Richard.

With help from friends & family the bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End has been completed, it took just 11 days off riding with just one day off half way in to the ride for a rest, which my legs appreciated but my bum did not as the next day back in the saddle was like I had started all over again.

But the people I met on route & the sights I have seen more than made up for a little bit off discomfort.

In total 888.12 miles in 64 hours & 36 min's & 54,525 calories burnt, no accidents & only one puncture.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Lynn's fund but please dont stop just because the ride has stopped, if you haven't donated yet please do so as this disease is relentless & wont back off with out the help off all you amazing people out there who do care so much.

Thanks also to everyone who donated on route & that money has been passed on to this site.

I have biked against some crazy head winds, been rained on & even hailed on, had cars & lorries get frighteningly close to me but I stillwould not change anything with this ride.

The burning question is would I do it again, ask me next year is all I can say at this moment.

Richard.
