Wildlife Direct was founded in 2004 by Dr Richard Leakey to help African Conservationists who are doing difficult and dangerous work by protecting some of the worlds most endangered animals.
Since 2007 through its Ya Pili Gorilla Appeal, Durrell has been helping to raise funds for Wildlife Direct specifically to train and support specialized ‘Gorilla Protection Units’ who’s job it is to monitor the Mountain Gorillas, and other wildlife inhabiting the Virunga National Park, Democratic Republic of Congo and protect them against the ongoing threat of poachers. To date Durrell has raised nearly £10,000 for this vitally important gorilla conservation project and we hope to raise much more. If you'd like to know more about the work that both charities do, visit www.wildlifedirect.org and www.durrell.org.
To raise further funds for Wildlife Direct, on June 29th I will be jumping out of a plane for a skydive dressed as a gorilla...(what else!) so please sponsor me now!
*Please note event date has now changed to 29th June from 18th (as per info at top of page), so more time more money!!!!*
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you
Richard
