My story
This is Madrider Tarmac Challenge in aid of ROYAL BRITISH LEGION RIDERS BRANCH .This is not going to be easy actualy its totaly bonkers but hey ho its going to be FUN ,, Rain or shine we ride .We had comformation from Both Princes wishing us all the best & yes hopeing to meet them both .
Bit about me just so you understand the Challenge , To date ive raised over £40k for UK based charities , I ride with 3xslipped disc lower spine , damaged disc in lower neck & Damaged left knee. But there are alot worse than me ,,, The Legion help our guys & families of them & its my way of getting funding for this to carry on , So Please help me help them ...Im chef by trade so used to long hours . Some say good holiday I can assure you its not as easy as one thinks ,,,
Many would have seen rblr riders visit clarance house with tea n biscuits with HRH Prince Charles ,My invite still in post ....
The ride has been changed to visit as many bases possible in the period of time allocated
So far we have 71 bases confirmed I thingk thats enough . The est milage is about 4,000 . Please come ride with us or if you carnt please donate something on here .
The crew will be myself riding CG125cc covered in poppys , out rider will be fellow RBLR rider Mr Phil tunner , Support will be made up of ,Mr Martin Horrel ex Army rblr & Mr David Reynolds ex Navy rblr these are drivers of support vechile , Mrs Linda marsh & Mrs val reynolds both rblr filming & still photos & web updating ,Mr Peter Morrissey my dad ex R.A.F RBL member , he be interveiwing me each day ....
This ride will help some of them .
The ride will start In plymouth on 5th July 2012 & end at Admiralty House on 15th july , Where on that day we are hoping to have fun day arranged with ex milatary vechiles..
The ride will firstly take us into Cornwall visiting H.M.S Raleigh , then , R.A.F Chivonor ,40 Commando at Taunton , then over to South Wales to R.A.F St Athans, Then ride too 1st rifles at chepstow barracks to end day 1
6th july This will be start 07.30 hrs on this day we travel north taking out M.O.D stafford , R.a.F Cosford , Army Ternhill , R.A.F Shawbury . Army Shewsbury , then heading for R.A.F Valley , to end day two .
7th july We leave R.A.F Valley to ride to Chester baracks then via Birkenhead meeting with local rblr riders head to wards liverpool n preston to Fulwood barracks , It will be long ride then to H.M.S.Gannet , We where going to stop there but due to NO accom Its been decided to ride north taking out Glasgow ,Then finding camp site .This will be loch lomond area
8th july We will start from were ever we camp but 1st port of call will be Black watch nr Innverness , then R.A.F Kinlos ( although closed but still manned at main gate them R.A.F Lossimouth , then we head south to RM Condor to end the day .
9th july Will see us heading for Dundee then over to Edinbrurgh.then to R.A.F Boulmer ( there small runway there but it Air sea rescue base ).We then will be south bound heading for Ouston & Catterick , were we will be heading for R.A.F Linton -on-ouse.to end the day .
10th july this will be the day we take out all the bases in lincolnshire heading to stop at R.A.F cranwell .We will be also visiting Air Museum at East Kirby to see there Lancaster bomber .
11th july This day is the maddest one of them all I have to take out 15 bases in total , all in Norfolk ,this is going to be the hardest day of the ride although not taking small area there will be about 300miles ,zig zaging .We are Stopping at Wattisham AAC .
12th july R.A.F Hendon will be 1st port of call , followed by R.A.F Northolt ,Next be Windsor barracks then Sandhurst then Odiham & findly ending the day at Aldershot with the Paras .
13th july Well this is my birthday but there will be no letting off here .The ride this day will be zig zagging more than ever as we Visit Army abingdon , upper hayford , brize norton , fairford . ending the day at cirencester with 29th logistics.
14th july First stop Wotten basset , then lyneham , buckely barracks . Azingburgh barracks larkhill , bulford barracks ,We will be visiting also Middle wallop , And few more in the area ending at Middle Wallop AAC
15th july This is the home run but on the way we will be visiting ,R.N.A.S Yoveiton , Lympstone barracks , Bickleigh Barracks , Citerdal Barracks ,Stonehouse Barracks , ending the ride at Admiralty house some 4,000 miles after we started ..
There will be other barracks /camps that we will be visiting if we are passing we will drop in ,Hives on all the bases are been informed .
This will end the challenge for 2012 ,, But plans are already in place for 2013 ...
