Lee Ferreday and Rob Hudson from Hewlett Civil Engineering will be attempting to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats in less than eight days. You may ask yourself why would these two ‘relatively sane’ men be willing to put themselves through this gruelling challenge?
Well, it’s more than just about having an excuse to openly wear Lycra for a week. The motivation for doing the bike ride is to raise valuable funds for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity in Sheffield. In fact, Lee & Rob’s goal is to raise £10,000....and with your help and generosity this amount of money will help to change the lives of many cancer patients who receive care and treatment at Weston Park Hospital.
Sadly Lee lost both of his parents to Cancer over recent years and Weston Park played a big part in their treatment and care whilst ill. As such he wants to give something back in recognition of the support they gave him and his family.
For all bar one of the days Lee and Rob will be riding on their own, however they will have a back up van with a support crew of one (Rob’s Dad) who will meet them periodically throughout each day to provide food and drink and to be on hand in case any mechanical assistance is needed.
Donations of any amount are obviously greatly appreciated however, as an added incentive to 'dig deep' we have the following sponsorship offers:
- Select your miles on any particular day and buy those for £10 a mile, all promotion for the event will then show who has paid for each mile (on Hewlett’s website and in any associated media promotion)
- Select to sponsor a full or half day and Lee & Rob will add your Company Name to the shirts they wear that day.
- One off donations of significant enough value will also be reciprocated with your Company Name being visible on our back-up van for the full duration of the ride.
The Route::
Day 1: Lands End to St Columb Major (50miles)
Day 2: St Columb Major to Bridgwater (128miles)
Day 3: Bridgewater to Warwick (148miles)
Day 4: Warwick to Leeds (130miles)
Day 5: Leeds to Hexham (108miles)
Day 6: Hewham to Cowdenbeath (125miles)
Day 7: Cowdenbeath to Inverness (139miles)
Day 8: Inverness to John O Groats (122miles)
You can also monitor Lee & Rob’s preparations for the challenge and track their Fund Raising Totals through the following link from the Hewlett Web Site www.hewlett.co.uk
In anticipation of your Generosity we thank you for your support.
