Hello there!

Well, I've well and truly dusted myself off and it is nearly time get back on the sponsored walk trail.

After last autumn's walk north to the Lake District, this time I'm off east to the seaside!

I have chosen BLYTHE HOUSE HOSPICE as my nominated charity for this year's walk. I believe they do a wonderful job helping people in need of care when they need it most. It is the High Peak's only day care hospice and so really does p lay a vital role for people in the area.

So Chapel-en-le-Frith (where Blythe House is situated) to Skegness is the route I have decided on. The walk commences at 09:00 on Tuesday 1 September 2009.

The total distance is about 120 miles as I am taking a less than direct route at times. I expect to complete the walk in 6 days.

I hope that everyone who reads this page feels able to make a donation, however much you feel able to give.

I will be updating this page on a regular basis and you can catch up on my blogs on my Myspace page as I build up towards the event. (www.myspace.com/houndofthehills)

Joining me on the walk, just as he did on last year's, will be TED!

This is where the whole thing gets a little silly, but the idea of TED! accompanying me is to give people a smile and a laugh and to get them digging deep into their pockets. On last year's walk, total strangers along the route were donating money after seeing TED! perched on top of my rucksack.

TED's version of events will be posted from time to time on his blog on his Myspace page. It will no doubt spill the beans on all the pubs we visit on route along with an A to Z of ice cream vans! (www.myspace.com/whoisthebard). It will add a lot of fun to the whole walk if last year is anything to go by! He now also has a penchant for cream teas, which is hardly condusive to the training schedule!

So there you go. That's my plans as they stand. I have got time off work confirmed so all I need to do is get as much sponsorship in as possible and continue to get myself fit!!!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Blythe House, High Peak Hospicecare gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Cheers for now!

Rob

When I decided to do this walk, I knew I had to get myself fit! Now the days of playing football and cricket, etc., are no more, I weighed more than I have ever done. So a sensible diet and lots of exercise have been the key to reducing my weight from 14st 10 lbs to 13st 12 lbs (09.08.09) and it should be futher reduced by the time of the walk.

Walks in the Lake District and over the Quantock hills and Exmoor in Somerset over the past few weeks have certainly helped me feel that I am finally getting into shape.
