Thank You For Your Interest In Our Page
I Robert Gilmour and Bridget Stokes over the years have been part of many projects in Rwanda Africa, working with young people who were affected by the genocide in 1992.
We have now been invited on a challenge of a life timeto Cambodia on March 19th 2009 returning on March 29th 2009. In Cambodia we will be working with young children and victims who have suffered horrific injuries caused by landmines.Everyday these people are living in fear and everyday dozens of people die from the injuries they have suffered.
Bridget and i will be part of a team working for a charity called M.A.G The Mines Advisory Group, which is a land mine clearance charity and co-laureate of the 1997 Noble Peace Prize.
Whilst in Cambodia we will be trekking through the jungles and visiting villages which have been affected by these horrendous mines, they have been hidden away for years where children play not knowing what they are, injuries caused by these mines are devastating. Improving the safety for these children will safe many lifes and save more people having to suffer.Part of project will be to travel to Puok/Angor where we will work for 5 days helping to to rebuild peoples homes and also build new ones.
As part of the challenge we will have to raise £3000 each which will go towards materials for homes and equipment for removing these mines thats cause so much danger and heartache
