Weldmar Hospicecare makes every moment matter for adults in Dorset with a life limiting illness, in their last twelve months. Our specialist compassionate care, given in patients' own homes and at our hospice, comes from doctors, nurses, counsellors and therapists, for patients and their loved ones.

Story

It happened again....I told myself not to drink too much but...after a few too many real ales I convinced myself....and an old climbing friend (Dave) to do another mountain...!!

So this year, the plan is to climb The Matterhorn....just a small one this time! We start the challenge on September 12th and all being well, after a week of pain(!), we should have ascended and descended the 4477m of what is, one of the most challenging mountains to climb in the world.

As you all know, I love a challenge and it doesn't get much better than to push myself to the limit and at the same time raise some worthwhile funds for a good cause.

Having recently lost my Auntie Jan to cancer and having my father and fiancées mother also diagnosed with this horrible illness, I have decided to try and raise money for the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust. This charity, which is based in West Dorset, cares for patients with cancer and other progressive conditions who require specialist help.  My father, a volunteer at the hospice, recently introduced me to the charity and I learnt first hand how important it is that charities like this continue to help support local communities.

I am hoping that your donations will go towards acquiring a laptop and digital projector for the Bridport group, which will extend the range of activities it provides for its patients.

I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to read this and also for any donations you make, big or small as every penny helps.

Best wishes

Rob
