Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Some of you may know that my grandfather has been diagnosed with Lung Cancer which is a direct consequence of exposure to asbestos during his time working in confined engine rooms at sea.
He has recently deteriorated and is now staying at the Pilgrims Hospice in Ashford.
They are excellent in every way. The staff are wonderful and the Hospice itself is state of the art.
Sadly these facilities don't pay for themselves so I thought I would do my bit and see if I could help.
To this effect I am embarking on an unsupported Land’s End to John O’Groats Cycle. It is 1000 miles and I will be attempting to complete it in 10 days or under. The start date is set for the 22nd May and it is also, coincidentally the year anniversary of my ACL knee operation.
Training is going well although I have had a slight set back recently when I sheared the Crank arm bolt on my very expensive bike. Road side repair wasn't possible and on investigation the whole crankset was misaligned and broken. At £450 for the replacement parts I am really glad its a warranty job and they are being flown in from America! In the meantime my friendly local bike shop have lent me a bike to keep me on the road.
So please sponsor me for whatever you can, it all helps and I can guarantee I will feel every single one of the 1000 miles!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Pilgrims Hospices In East Kent gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me!
ps Paul makes a good comment below if only I could cycle on Motorways, therefore with the detours to the pubs it will be nearer 1100 miles!
